Yas Yagana Changezi's ghazal: Shama gul ho gayi, dil bujh gaya parvane ka...

Yagana, one of the most prominent poets representing Lucknow school of poetry, was born in 1883. He used the pen name 'Yaas' [sadness] in the initial years.

But later changed it to Yagana [unique]. Yas Yagana Changezi lived in Lucknow for a long time but his poetry was different from the Lakhnawi style. Now he is considered one of the legends of Urdu poetry.

Read his ghazal:

[kujaa=where?]

Now read the same ghazal in Roman English transliteration:

silsilaa chhiR gayaa jab Yaas ke fasaane kaa
shamaa gul ho gayee dil bujh gayaa parvaane kaa

Khilvat-e-naaz kujaa aur kujaa ahl-e-hawas
zor kyaa chal sake faanuus se parvaane kaa

vaah kis naaz se aataa hai teraa daur-e-shabaab
jis taraH daur chale bazm meN parvaane kaa

Yaas Yagaana Changezi Lakhnawi
