Eminent poet Ali Abbas Ummid is a prolific author and well-known for his ghazals and nazms. Hailing from Ghazipur in UP, he made Bhopal his home. He shuns publicity and prefers to enrich literature silently.

Read his ghazal:

Now read in Roman English script:

varaq hai mere sahiife kaa, aasmaaN kyaa hai
rahaa yeh chaaNd to shaayad tumhaaraa chehraa hai

jo puuchhtaa thaa meri umr usse kah dena
kisii ke pyaar ke mausam kaa ek jhoNkaa hai

fizaa ki shaaKh pe lafzoN ke phuul khilne do
jise sukuut smaajhte ho zard patta hai

mere qadam bhii ko'ii shaam kaash le letii
mera safar bhii to suraj ki taraH tanhaa hai

zaruur chaaNd ke honToN pe meraa naam aayaa hogaa
merii miZhah se sitaara saa ko'ii TuuTaa hai

Selected couplets of Urdu poet Yaqoob Rahi: Harsh, straight-forward and rebellious poetry

Yaqoob Rahi is known for his distinct expression and style of poetry.

Born in Raigarh in Maharashtra. he later shifted to Mumbai.

Now read in Roman English script:

Khush-kalaami se kab log seedhe hue

Talkh-goi karo, bad-zubani karo

Sarkashi, jabr-o-zulm ka hai jawab

zeher ko sirf zehr maare hai

Ye kya ki sabr-o-tahammul ki paR gayi aadat

Ye kya ki jurat-e-ahle-e-sitam baDhaate rahe

Ek hi jang mei.n thakna kaisa

aakhri jang ko tayyar raho

maqtal-e-shahr mein jab harf-e-wafa kho jaye

tum kisi cheekh ki maanind ubharna seekho

Ye kya ki sabr-o-tahammul ki paR gayi aadat

Ye kya ki jurat-e-ahle-e-sitam baDhaate rahe
